Our wood-based biochar is made from Namibia’s encroacher bush biomass by trained female biochar artisans in rural communities.
We harvest our bush biomass by undertaking and endorsing sustainable bush harvesting techniques and bush control that leads to sustainable rural development, more resilient ecosystems, land restoration, enhanced biodiversity, and ultimately - better livelihood opportunities and the enhanced well-being of the people living in rural areas.
Every project is uniquely centered around the framework of including rural communities in which we, as a team, access the international voluntary carbon credit market. We now can place a market value on our biochar carbon removal projects that reduce GHG emissions and use it as a tool to accelerate economic and social development in Namibia.
Between 300,000 and 450,000 square kilometers of land in Namibia are now bush encroached. To put it into context, this is as large as the whole of Sweden or Germany.
Biochar is a vital tool in soil health management that increases total soil carbon and various soil functions and leads to a decrease in water usage.
Omiti Inoculated Biochar has been pre-loaded with a mixed culture of naturally occurring beneficial bacteria, yeasts, and fungi.
To reach net zero, we need to both reduce our emissions going into the atmosphere and find ways to remove our past, present and future emissions.
We build commercially and financially strong biochar carbon removal projects revolving around partnerships with rural communities and conservancies in Namibia.
Our projects sustainably utilise Namibia’s bush resources to reduce excess encroacher bush in a holistic manner to maintain an optimum savanna ecosystem with enhanced ecological, social, and economic benefits.
